After helming 2014 albums by Echo & The Bunnymen and Peter Murphy, Killing Joke bassist Martin “Youth” Glover next turns his attention to Spiritualized, having been tapped by that band’s Jason Pierce to produce the follow-up to 2012’s Sweet Heart Sweet Light.
Both Spiritualized and Killing Joke have confirmed the news on their Facebook pages, with KJ this morning announcing: “Very pleased to announce that Youth will be in the producer seat for the new Spiritualized record. Jason Spaceman has started recording in London at Youth’s studio and will complete the recordings in Spain.”
Killing Joke also is at work on a new album, having announced in December that, “Our new studio album and our third for Spinefarm/Universal is proceeding at pace.”
And personally I was not impressed with his work on Peter’s release.
J Spaceman??? I did a quick YouTube search to learn about him. I learned alot!!! Like, mostly that he is stupid.
The Peter Murphy production was impossibly great. J is just a meth-less loser.
Youth could better spend his time as fry cook.
You had to look up Jason Pierce? Never heard of Spiritualized? Spaceman 3? I guess your name is a bit of misnomer, eh?
WTF i’ve read from you. Did you hear some music of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized???.
Clearly something needs to be done with Jason’s hair.
A “meth-less loser”. When you can write masterpiece LP’s like Jason has then you can talk smack, until then, you might want to change your name Mr. “All” knowing considering you have never even heard of Spiritalized and makes me wonder just what you do know about music, if anything at all.
Plus one.
I find it a bit odd that, after 25 years of self-producing his own material, Jason has decided to bring in an outside producer. Find the choice of Youth a bit odd as well, but I like what he did with Primal Scream’s “Riot City Blues.”
