Welcome to the Week in Rock, where we round up all of the headlines posted on this site over the past week. This week featured news about Iggy Pop and New Order, plus The Cure, Ski Patrol, C86, The Replacements, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Morrissey, Roddy Frame, Pulp and more.

Exactly one week ago, a pair of multiplatinum smash albums from Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden — ’90s alternative standard bearers The Downward Spiral and Superunknown, respectively — celebrated their 20th anniversary. Tonight, those two acts announced a co-headlining tour of North America.

Back in 2011, the good folks at Rhino Records requested we take a stab at curating their ‘Just Can’t Get Enough: The ’80s’ playlist on Spotify — and now that the label’s launched its own app within Spotify, we’ve been asked to freshen it up occasionally with 25 new tracks representing the classic ’80s alternative era.

Morrissey will follow up his just-released reissue of 1992’s Your Arsenal with a new remastered edition of that album’s follow-up — Vauhxall and I, released exactly 20 years ago today — on June 2, the singer announced today via fansite True To You. The album is remastered by Bill Inglot.

The Cure will return to North America late this spring to headline the BottleRock festival in Napa Valley, Calif., joining, at the top of the bill, OutKast, Eric Church, The Fray, Weezer and Band of Horses — plus Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker.

U.K. postpunk act Ski Patrol next month will release a new anthology collecting the group’s recorded output from 1979 to 1981, a 14-track collection that will include their singles, previously unreleased mixes and songs from their final studio session, their John Peel radio session and more.

Cherry Red Records this week revealed the final tracklist for its deluxe-edition reissue of the NME’s legendary C86 cassette, which finds the original 22-song indie-pop compilation now expanded into a 3CD set — up from a planned two-disc collection — that will feature 72 total tracks.

Pulp’s 1995 Britpop masterpiece, Different Class, will receive its first-ever U.S. vinyl pressing this summer when Plain Recordings releases a new 180-gram pressing of the Mercury Prize-winning album, the label announced today. No release date has yet been announced, and the pressing will not include bonus material.

Bernard Sumner and a pair of his New Order bandmates — specifically the two who weren’t also in Joy Division — performed at Carnegie Hall as part of the Tibet House U.S. Benefit Concert, where they were joined onstage by Iggy Pop to perform Joy Division’s “Transmission” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”

This week’s Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour on Strangeways Radio featured music by David Byrne, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’, Love and Rockets, New Order, The Modern Lovers, Paul Weller, Black Flag, The Cure, Big Audio Dynamite, Roddy Frame, The House of Love, The Jesus and Mary Chain and more.

The Replacements reunion returns to Canada — where it began — this summer with a just-announced appearance at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, just the latest in what continues to be a festival-only affair for the reunited ‘Mats. The band joins Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at the Aug. 1-3 festival.

Siouxsie and the Banshees will commemorate “Hong Kong Garden” next month with a double 7-inch reissue of the single that will include the original A- and B-sides and the version from Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette” film and the recording of “Voices” from 1984’s The Thorn EP.

Former Aztec Camera mastermind Roddy Frame returns this May with his first solo album in eight years, a record called Seven Dials that is preceded by the debut today of lead-off single “Forty Days of Rain,” which you can stream below via AED Records.
