Like OutKast, reunited college-rock legends The Replacements seem content to stick strictly to festivals, the latest of which is the just-announced two-weekend Austin City Limits Music Festival in October, where the ‘Mats will join headliners Eminem, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Beck and, of course, OutKast on the massive bill.
So far, following last year’s three Riot Fest gigs, the band played two Coachella shows this month, and will follow that with appearances at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival in May, the Forecastle fest in Louisville, Ky., in July and the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal in August. Then comes ACL, set for Oct. 3-5 and 10-12. No further dates have been announced.
No word yet whether the ‘Mats will drag Billie Joe Armstrong along for the rest of their dates this year.
Tickets for the Austin City Limits Music Festival go on sale 10 a.m. Central today.
The Replacements tour dates:
May 10: Shaky Knees Music Festival, Atlanta, GA
July 18-20: Forecastle Music Festival, Louisville, KY
Aug. 1-3: Osheaga Music Festival, Montreal, Canada
Oct. 3-5: Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin, TX
Oct. 10-12: Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin, TX

I sure as hell hope not.
Iggy Azalea. Icona Pop. Well, sounds like the organizers TRIED to get Iggy Pop!
Great to see the ‘Mats playing this far down the road, but here’s to a proper tour in more intimate venues!
p.s. Billie is kind of rockin’ a Chris Mars look, circa ’87. Coincidence?
Hey Mats- It’s probably not too late to sneak into Outside Lands this August.
