Simple Minds continue to toy with the emotions of their long-suffering North American fans, hinting that the band is set to finally tour the U.S. and Canada for the first time in more than a decade, pronouncing this morning via the group’s Facebook page that such concerts may be coming “sooner than you might think.”

The Breeders brought their Last Splash 20th anniversary tour to Boston for a homecoming gig Thursday night, but ended up celebrating an earlier era as co-founder Tanya Donelly re-joined Kim Deal and Co. onstage for a pair of numbers, including a giddy, laugh-filled cover of The Beatles’ “Happiness is a Warm Gun.”

Grant Hart returns this summer with his long-in-the-works The Argument, a double album based on John Milton’s epic “Paradise Lost,” on which Domino Record Co. says Hart “distills its essence into pop and rock concoctions that nimbly flit through the history of 20th century music.”

EMI Music will reissue The Stranglers’ 1992 box set The Old Testament: The U.A. Studio Recordings (1977-1982), which collects the punk legends’ first six albums plus bonus singles and B-sides on four CDs, and now includes a brand-new fifth disc of rarities including live tracks, radio edits and remixes.

Despite fans’ concerns that the entire trek had been scrubbed, it appears the Regeneration Tour is still on this summer, with Talking Heads spinoff Tom Tom Club and New Wave stars A Flock of Seagulls filling in at certain dates for The Human League, which quit the tour late month.

Fire Records today announced plans to reissue the full catalog of mind-bending ’80s psych-rockers Spacemen 3 — featuring Peter “Sonic Boom” Kember and a pre-Spiritualized Jason “J. Spaceman” Pierce — on 180-gram colored vinyl, beginning next week with the band’s first two studio LPs and a follow-up live set.

Alison Moyet’s eighth solo album, the minutes, is out in the U.K. this week — it won’t arrive in the U.S. until June 11 — and the former Yazoo frontwoman stopped by the “This Morning” program on the U.K.’s ITV television network today to perform lead single “When I Was Your Girl.”
