The Chilean concert promoter that originally announced Morrissey had postponed his entire South American tour after he and part of his team suffered “severe food poisoning” in Lima this week now says the ex-Smiths singer is rescheduling his concerts in Chile, but that the two shows that had been planned in Peru this week are “canceled definitively.”
In a posting on Facebook, Colors Chile — the promoter booking Moz’s dates in Peru and Chile — says Morrissey will begin his South American tour on July 28 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and will follow that with the concerts planned for July 30, Aug. 2 and Aug. 4 in Brazil. Seven Chilean dates are expected to be rescheduled “in August immediately after Brazil,” according to the promoter.
The new Chilean dates are expected in the next few days, along with information on how fans can get refunds for their tickets if they cannot attend the newly scheduled concerts, according to Colors Chile.
As for Peru, the July 9 and 10 concerts have now been “discarded” in the new tour routing and won’t be rescheduled, according to the promoter, and ticket refunds will be made available.
Promoters announced this past Tuesday that Morrissey postponed his South American tour after he and members of his crew were sickened and returned to England to be treated by personal physicians. The next day, the promoter of the concerts in Brazil and Argentina insisted those shows would go on as scheduled.
The confusion comes as Morrissey still has not made any announcement about his South American tour via his two usual means of communication: the True To You fansite or his official Facebook page.
Morrissey was to have resumed touring this week for the first time since his trouble-plagued North American trek in late 2012 and earlier this year that, after multiple postponements, finally was canceled altogether in mid-March. The singer’s publicists blamed the cancellations on “a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett’s esophagus and double pneumonia.”
