Reunited Paisley Underground standard-bearers The Three O’Clock will warm up for their twin appearances at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival next month with an intimate club gig at The Glass House in Pomona, Calif., on April 6 — and the fine folks there have given us four pairs of tickets to give away to lucky Slicing Up Eyeballs readers.
TO ENTER: Simply drop a comment at the bottom of this post naming your favorite Three O’Clock song or songs and why you cherish that one (or more) above all others.
RULES: We’ll take entries until 12 p.m. EDT Friday, March 29. After that point, we’ll select four winners at random and contact them via e-mail — so please remember to use legit addresses when you enter. Winners will need to be able to show photo ID at will call to pick up their tickets. One entry per person.
Of, if you’d rather just get tickets now, they’re currently on sale.

Choosing just one or two fave 3 O’clock tunes is not an easy task, but here goes: 1) “Her Head’s Revolving”, because it was possibly the first song I’d heard from the band (and because it ROCKS), and 2) “In My Own Time”, because they took an OK Bee Gees tune and totally OWNED IT. Michael’s bass and Danny’s drum fills are incredible. This track probably cemented it for me. Fan for life.
JET FIGHTER!! Reminds me of my early mod years. Also coming home after school to watch music videos!! Fun times!!
My favorite The Three O’clock song is so hard to choose but I will have to say: “If You Could See My Way” Thank you :)
“with a cantaloupe girlfriend” because it was the first song i heard (around 82/83)and i was a fan from then on. the Salvation Army record is pretty great too. ;)
Jet Fighter is hard to beat, but all songs are great. Going to have to dust off my Vespa.
“In my own time”, ” stupid Einstien”
JetFighter…. bring back the memories of a great highly listened to cassette!
Happen Happened
And So We Run is one of my favorites and perfect for
daydreaming
“Her Head’s Revolving.” I could hear them sound checking it when they were the surprise support band for REM at Berkeley’s Greek Theater on the Fables of the Reconstruction tour before the record was released. The show got rained out. Great day in the rain though. Smeared eyeliner on all the boys.
“Her Heads Revolving” I loved the whole Paisley Underground movement of the ’80’s!!! Good times!!!
Stupid Einstein, Jet Fighter, Happen Happened
JETFIGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Her Head’s Revolving” because I used to see it all the time on Request Video on Channel 9 in Los Angeles, CA. I loved the “60”‘s vibe to the song and the video was clever.
Spun Gold & As Real As Real…..Amazing songs that remind me of being in junior high desperately trying to get to see them in concert! …..Honorable mention “When We Can” just because it’s AMAZING!!!!!!
I am sorry to say I live in Seattle so can’t make it to the show, so please give the tickets to someone else if my name is drawn. I just want to give a shout-out for “When We Can” from the “Ever After” album. Haunting, that one.
Doris Day stays home and washes dishes one by one. Always one by one.
They recorded SO many good songs, but this one has a special place in my heart: “And So We Run” from Sixteen Tambourines. When I left home for college, I had my car’s cassette player queued to start playing this song as I drove out of town. It was my theme song for my new freedom.
I used to love hearing “Jet Fighter” whenever Rodney on the Roq would play it on KROQ-FM.
Stupid Einstein
Jet Fighter because it is a perfect pop song…
Love them all, but, Sorry is my favorite with As Real As Real a close second.
Cantaloupe girlfriend and Sorry
Jet Fighter – heard it for the first time in years on the radio recently and it brought back a flood of great memories.
My fave Three O’Clock song – ‘With a Cantaloupe Girlfriend’. Brilliant song-title too! It’s a nugget if you dug it!
Honestly my favorite song varies from time to time, but currently I rate “Marjorie Tells Me” on top of my list due not necessarily to one aspect or another, but rather a combination of each of the parts creating a magnificent whole. Will’s violin, Earl’s production, the vocal melody, Michael’s vocals and bass line, Danny’s beat, Louis’ guitar work, Mickey’s keys, and finally the mysterious lyrics all merge together to create a groovy vibe….love it!
“Seeing is Believing.” Just about the prettiest chorus ever written.
Tough call, most everything from the Salvation Army throughout the ’80s. I even still have my 45 from the ‘paintbox’ with the Lucifer Sam cover / back w In Love Too -?
In Love In Too
Grimly forming. And Mind Gardens.
I Go Wild
Cuz it’s cool.
Currently “When Lightning Starts” – the perfect 60s/80s hybrid.
Contest is now closed. Thanks to all who entered. Winners have been notified via e-mail.
