The Psychedelic Furs this evening announced the cancellation of the band’s short run of New Year’s dates in Las Vegas and California as frontman Richard Butler recovers from spinal surgery, but added, in a note posted on the band’s official Facebook page, that the group hopes to reschedule the five concerts in the future.
The Furs had been slated to play New Year’s Eve in Anaheim, Calif., and New Year’s Day in Las Vegas, followed by three more California concerts in Santa Cruz, Napa and Agoura Hills.
Tonight’s announcement reported the shows were canceled “due to injury,” which later was elaborated upon to disclose that Butler is recovering from spinal surgery.
The Fixx had been scheduled to open all of the Furs’ dates except Dec. 31 in Anaheim; it’s unclear, though, if that band will still play any of those shows.
The Psychedelic Furs tour dates:
Dec. 31: House of Blues, Anaheim, CA
Jan. 1: Hard Rock on the Strip, Las Vegas, NV
Jan. 3: Rio Theater, Santa Cruz, CA
Jan. 4: Uptown Theater, Napa, CA
Jan. 5: Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, CA

I was just really enjoying watching Richard butler on stage in the 2013 concerts in Peru and otherwise, and how funny and wonderful he is, was..and then I see that they’re still touring? Wow I’ve never seen them live, hardly seen anyone. Is he injured from all that dancing, and smoking though too? Wow
