The Cure’s Robert Smith is again teaming up with director Tim Burton, following up his contribution to the companion album to Burton’s 2010 version of “Alice in Wonderland” with a song on the upcoming Frankenweenie Unleashed!, a 14-track collection of songs “inspired by” the filmmaker’s new stop-motion creation.
Due out Sept. 25, and not to be confused with Danny Elfman’s actual soundtrack, the new record features a new Smith recording called “Witchcraft,” one of only a handful of tracks he has released under his own name — one of the last being the cover of “Very Good Advice” from Disney’s animated “Alice in Wonderland” that he contributed to Burton’s remake.
The Unleashed! album also features contributions from Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grace Potter featuring The Flaming Lips and Neon Trees, plus Plain White T’s contributing a cover of the Ramones’ “Pet Sematary,” from the soundtrack to the 1989 Stephen King adaptation.
“Frankenweenie” opens Oct. 5.

I’m more shocked by the inclusion of Winona Ryder.
Is the white Tee’s song “pet semetary” a Ramones cover?
Now that I read the whole story, forget my question above. It is a ramones cover!
Is Karen O’s song a Depeche Mode cover? I quite like her, might be an interesting version. As or Smith, meh…
No, the Karen O song is an original. There’s only one cover on the album, according to the press release.
