Since announcing their reunion last year, The Stone Roses have booked dates — and now begun to play them — across Europe and into the Far East this summer, yet no official mention has been made of the possibility of North American concerts. All of the major U.S. summer festivals have been announced without a Roses appearance.
Following the Roses’ second night of its back-to-back, tour-opening stand in Barcelona over the weekend, though, a fan tweeted that Ian Brown, John Squire and Gary “Mani” Mounfield came out to meet fans and signed autographs. According to @Last_Broadcast, “John Squire confirmed that #thestoneroses will visit the US ‘next year’ … any bets on Coachella??”
Still no official word, but it’s the first suggestion of a timetable of when long-suffering U.S. fans might see the first-ever appearance on these shores by the original Roses’ lineup.
