Video: The Stone Roses open first tour in 16 years at Barcelona’s Club Razzmatazz

Just two-and-a-half weeks after the surprise U.K. warm-up gig that marked the first live public performance by The Stone Roses — Ian BrownJohn SquireGary “Mani” Mounfield and Alan “Reni” Wren — in 16 years, the reunited Manchester legends opened their first tour since 1996 with a pair of full-length concerts Friday and Saturday night at Club Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Spain.

The band, which has concerts and festival appearances booked through August across Europe and the Far East, played slightly longer sets than the 11-song warm-up show at Parr Hall in Warrington on May 23, focusing, again, on the Roses’ 1989 debut and its B-sides, and including a performance of the epic single “Fools Gold” on both nights.

Below, you can check out the setlists for both nights, plus video highlights of each show — as well as, at the very bottom of the page, the Roses’ remaining summer tour dates.

  1. There you go!
You wait a zillion years (and a costly divorce) for the band to get back and have to set up for a set skipping classics…
and, thanks to their “let’s not play more than 90 minutes” pose, you won’t get the “Fantastic” new songs and will end up not hearing Mersey Paradise or Sugar Spun Sister (God forbid they’ll play headlining shows slightly longer than for your casual festival appearance).
Seems like next tuesday will look more like Heaton’s rehearsal and not what I’ve been waiting for…

  2. One of the most overrated bands of all time, matched only by Oasis.

  3. Mostly out of anger that these overhyped tossers are back…
