The folks over at the U.K. arm of Rhino Records continue to dig through the video archive of material left behind by The Smiths, and now — following last month’s discovery of a cheeky suicide-themed ad — they’ve unearthed this “lost” 17-minute documentary about the band, which they believe was commissioned by the label in 1992 to send out to the press in support of the then-new 14-track Best… compilation.
PREVIOUSLY ON SLICING UP EYEBALLS:
- ‘The Smiths — Complete’ box set: 8 albums on vinyl, CD; plus 25 7-inch singles, DVD
- Video: Cheeky ad for The Smiths’ ‘Best…’ spoofs comp as suicide soundtrack
- ‘Fuck Morrissey-solo.com’: Morrissey attacks his own fansite with naughty T-shirt
- The Smiths’ ‘Queen is Dead’ released 25 years ago today; watch ‘Rank’ concert
- Stream: Morrissey debuts three new songs on Janice Long’s show on BBC Radio 2
“lost”…Ha…yeah right.
That docco’s almost as bad as those two compilations.
