Today, apparently, is Duran Duran Appreciation Day 2011, and to mark the occasion, the band is offering a free download of a brand-new 7½-minute club version of All You Need Is Now track “Other People’s Lives” — a so-called “Night Version,” resurrecting the group’s tradition of recording extended versions of their songs rather than just making extended remixes for use in dance clubs.
On the band’s website, John Taylor writes:
“‘OPL’ is one of the songs I enjoy most off the latest album, and one I have been looking forward to making an extended dance version of since it was first recorded. This version was cut, edited and extended at our London studio in June ’11 with engineer Josh at the controls. Mark Ronson thought it was about time we had a Night Version again so here it is. We hope you’ll get a kick out of it.”
