As we first reported last December, Sonic Youth leader Thurston Moore has been working on a new Beck-produced solo album that Matador Records today announced will be titled Demolished Thoughts — it previously was called Benediction — and is due to be released May 24.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Northampton, Mass., this past fall and winter, and features musical assistance from violinist Samara Lubelski, who played 2007’s Trees Outside the Academy, plus harpist Mary Lattimore, bassist Bram Inscore, drummer Joey Waronker and Beck himself. According to Matador, a full tracklisting, live performance details and a pre-release MP3 are forthcoming.
