Just seven dates into the 360° Tour’s second European leg, U2 has now debuted four unreleased songs with the addition of tonight’s premiere of “Every Breaking Wave” in Helsinki, Finland. The track, seen in the clip above, features just Bono and The Edge (“No one’s heard that before… including the two of us,” Bono says at the end, after calling out chord changes to The Edge mid-song).
“Every Breaking Wave” reportedly was one of the last songs dropped from No Line on the Horizon and is said to be earmarked for the companion album, Songs of Ascent, that could come out later this year. The other new songs U2 has played so far are “Return of the Stingray Guitar,” “Glastonbury” and “North Star”; see video of all three here.
Also today, the band announced it will take its tour Down Under at the end of the year, with concerts scheduled in Auckland, New Zealand, and the Australian cities of Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth in November and December (see full dates below).
