New Wave/synthpop combo Animotion — which reunited in 2008 and still tours sporadically — played a gig in Atlantic City, N.J., last weekend, and mixed in with its ’80s favorites (“Obsession,” “Let Him Go,” “I Engineer”) came this cover of Depeche Mode’s monster hit “Enjoy the Silence.” The performance — featuring original singers Astrid Plane and Bill Wadhams — was part of the “Lost ’80s Live” package tour, which hits Las Vegas tonight with A Flock of Seagulls, Gene Loves Jezebel, Dramarama, When in Rome, The Motels and more.
awkward.
Yeah, I agree…awkward. I may be biased though considering I have the words “enjoy the silence” inked in my right arm….
See, they were trying to..well…they were sort of trying…..
O.K……
Awkward.
I saw their ‘comeback’ three or four years ago on TV. On that show they were doing their own song and it was awkward. It’s like bad Karaoke.
I wonder what their stage presence was back when they were fresh?
Ok.

The only band in that lineup worth a dam is Gene Loves Jezebel. I mean what was the setlist of When in Rome? ‘The Promise’ over and over again, lol?
Flock of Seagulls, I mean come on, lol….
Ahem… It’s ‘A Flock of Seagulls’. :)
Actually, I recently dove into the Flock’s discography and they have some pretty great tracks. Check out these if you have not heard them:
– The More You Live, The More You Love
– Lost Control
– Space Age Love Song
