With its second album out next month, Nick Cave’s raucous garage-blues side project Grinderman — which features three of the frontman’s Bad Seeds bandmates — this week announced a 15-date North American tour this fall to follow its previously unveiled European trek.
Cave and Co. now are set to play five U.K. dates, beginning Sept. 25 in Nottingham, followed by another 18 concerts in continental Europe, running from Oct. 4 in Lausanne, Switzerland, though Oct. 28 in Groningen, Netherlands. Following a two-week break, the Grinderman tour picks up again Nov. 11 in Toronto, with North American shows running through Dec. 1 in San Diego (see full tour dates below).
Before all of that, the band — Cave plus Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos — will follow up its 2007 self-titled debut with the nine-track Grinderman 2, slated for release Sept. 13 in Europe and Sept. 14 in the U.S. (See full tracklist and a series of somewhat odd video teaser trailers below).
The album will be preceded by the single “Heathen Child,” which will be released Sept. 6 as a two-track digital download with the non-album B-side “Star Charmer.” A limited-edition colored-vinyl 12-inch also will be released, with an extra B-side: “Super Heathen Child,” featuring famed King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp.
