Last week’s installment of the A.V. Club’s web series “Undercover: 25 Bands, 25 Cover Songs, 1 Small Room” featured prog-metal outfit Coheed & Cambria covering The Smiths — and this next clip is almost unlikely. This time, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump goes solo-acoustic to offer his take on The Wedding Present’s 1987 single “My Favourite Dress.”
The series already has seen Ted Leo and the Pharmacists cover Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Maritime tackle Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” and The Wedding Present take on The Rolling Stones’ “19th Nervous Breakdown.” Still on the A.V. Club’s list of songs to be covered: The Cure’s “In Between Days,” The Replacements’ “I Will Dare” and R.E.M.’s “Driver 8.”
Note: The A.V. Club’s videos take forever to load. Hit play, then wait. A while.
