Fans of The Smiths’ underrated final album, Strangeways, Here We Come, are abuzz about a rough demo of “Paint a Vulgar Picture” that recently leaked onto the web. The track — which you can hear in the YouTube embed above and can stream/download here — features slightly different lyrics, and in a different order, than the 1987 album version. Now if Morrissey would only heed his own advice in the song and “Reissue! Repackage! Repackage!” Strangeways and the rest of the band’s catalog so fans finally can hear outtakes like this — legitimately.
