Echo & The Bunnymen today unveiled a 10-date North American tour in April and May that will follow the band’s appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival — a run of dates that serves as a make-up for the November trek derailed by the group’s much-publicized IRS issues.
Following the Bunnymen’s April 16 slot at Coachella, the band sets out on a bi-coastal trek beginning April 18 in Reno, Nev., and wrapping May 1 in New York City. Except for Atlanta — which is bypassed entirely this time — the band is playing each of the cities on the aborted November tour (although not necessarily at the same-sized venues), plus stops in San Francisco and Ontario, and the aforementioned Reno concert.
The Bunnymen — whose latest album, The Fountain, was released last fall — reported they were forced to cancel the November tour after the IRS rejected the band’s “central withholding agreement,” without which, promoters would have been legally required to set aside 30 percent of the band’s payment for taxes.
