U.S. concerts on the Pixies’ ongoing Doolittle 20th anniversary tour will be opened by New Order spinoff Bad Lieutenant and a series of indie luminaries, including garage-rocker Jay Reatard, noise act No Age and TV on the Radio side project Rain Machine.
The Pixies’ publicity team this morning unveiled the November trek’s openers, with Bernard Sumner’s Bad Lieutenant taking the support slot on two high-profile gigs: the first of four New York concerts, and a just-added Chicago date, the first of three concerts now scheduled there.
With the Pixies playing multiple nights in most cities they’re visiting, no two shows in a given city feature the same opener. Other acts tapped for opening duties include Brooklyn indie rockers Black Gold and, for just the final date of the tour, Danish alt-rock band Mew. And one final slot, the second Denver date, remains unfilled.
