RELEASES: Rio: Collector’s Edition, Live At Hammersmith ’82
BACKSTORY: Delayed until next month in the U.S., this week sees the U.K. release of a pair of archival Duran Duran titles: an expanded 2CD reissue of 1982’s smash Rio, plus a live CD/DVD set. The former features the original U.K. mix of the album, plus five U.S. album and EP mixes on the first disc, and a second disc with 13 demos, singles, b-sides remixes and alternate versions. And the latter features a 10-song concert recorded at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in 1982 on both CD and DVD, while the DVD includes bonus music videos and “Top of the Pops” performances.

RELEASE: The Pleasure Principle: Expanded Edition
BACKSTORY: The synth pioneer’s solo debut gets the 30th anniversary reissue treatment from Beggars Archive. The 2CD set features a second disc of demos, outtakes and newly remastered cuts. Fans who buy the set directly from Numan’s site or Beggars will receive a bonus disc, The Live EPs, which collects tour recordings made in 1979.

BACKSTORY: Cave and his longtime Bad Seeds sideman issue this 2CD collection of soundtrack work they did for theater productions and films such as “The Proposition,” “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” and the upcoming “The Road.”
