ARTIST: Morrissey
RELEASE: HMV/Parlophone Singles ’88-’95, 7″ Singles ’88-’91
BACKSTORY: The first of these two collections — which Morrissey doesn’t want you to buy — compiles all of the singer’s A- and B-sides from 1988 to 1995 on three CDs, while the second is the first half of that collection on 7-inch vinyl (the second half will be released separately next month).

ARTIST: The Raincoats
RELEASE: The Raincoats
BACKSTORY: Kill Rock Stars reissues the post-punk combo’s 1978 self-titled debut on vinyl with a single bonus track: “Fairytale in the Supermarket,” the band’s debut single. In a somewhat unusual move, the extra song will open the new edition of the album rather than be appended at the end as a bonus track.

ARTIST: David Bowie
RELEASE: Space Oddity: 40th Anniversary Edition
BACKSTORY: The Thin White Duke’s second album is reissued in an expanded two-CD set, featuring a newly remastered version of the album itself and a second disc with 15 bonus tracks, eight of which are previously unreleased, including rare demos of “Space Oddity” and “An Occasional Dream.”

ARTIST: Talking Heads
RELEASE: “Stop Making Sense”
BACKSTORY: Long considered one of the best concert films of all time, Jonathan Demme’s “Stop Making Sense” makes its Blu-ray debut this week, remastered from the original 35mm source. The disc largely mirrors the DVD release, with audio commentary from Demme and the four band members. One new inclusion is video from the press conference marking the 1999 re-release, which gathered all four Talking Heads together for a rare joint appearance.
