Can you dig up “Is It Really So Strange?” by the Smiths/Moz for next Sunday’s “Dark Wave” in honour of Morrissey’s birthday? Thanx!
Great show tonight!!
Love the show, always a great way to end the week! Particularly fond of your shoegaze blocks. Would love to hear shoegaze/ambient outfit Lovesliescrushing, “Babysbreath” is beautiful. Keep it up!
Instead of OMD’s 2nd Thought, Cure’s 17 Seconds played.
Great show, especially second half of hour 1. The New Order spin offs was nice too.
For next week, would you play “The Love” by Screaming for Emily?
Have a good one.
Hi Matt! We are celebrating our second wedding anniversary on May 25th. Can you play “Halo” by The Cure? We would love to dance to it again. Thank you!
Highlight of the show had to be Faith by The Cure. Amazing song… haven’t heard it in so long. Thanks for playing it Matt.
Thanks for playing Imagination by Sad Lovers and Giants tonight! It was also so great to hear Incubation by JD and Don’t Fall by the Chameleons! The New Order side projects were fun too! It was an awesome show tonight!:)
To request for next week, do you think maybe you could play one of these songs next week?..
Candidate, Ceremony (Live), or Walked in Line by Joy Division
Daylight by For Against
Catch the Breeze by Slowdive
The Hop by Theatre of Hate
The Hand of Love, Winning, or Skeletons by The Sound
All that Jazz by Echo and the Bunnymen
In Your House by The Cure
Again, thanks so much and have a great week! Always looking forward to Sunday Night Dark Wave!
Agreed, Joy Division is the Mothership. I loved the John Foxx and that overlooked Echo & The Bunnymen track. Suggestions: Howard Devoto, Luxuria, That Petrol Emotion, Comsat Angels – anything from Chasing Shadows
“Sister I’m a Poet” by Morrissey (b-side “Everyday Is Like Sunday”)
Love the New Order side gig set!!!
The Cure – Purple Haze
That was a really great set. I especially enjoyed hearing Electronic, Danielle Dax and Wall of Voodoo. And reverberation really isn’t as bad as I remember it to be, it just doesn’t sound like Echo and The Bunnymen.
Great show (as always)! I have a request for the MEMORIAL WEEKEND show:
Stan Ridgeway’s Camouflage
We haven’t heard that on Dark Wave for years, but it’s fitting for Memorial Day.
Loved hearing “New Gold Dream” and some solo Martin Gore. That first hour was stellar. A few suggestions for next week’s show:
“Heartbeat (Tanai Kaiki 2)” – Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian
“Condemnation” – Depeche Mode
“Mack the Knife” – Psychedelic Furs
I’ve always loved the Furs’ cover of “Mack the Knife”. It is so hauntingly gorgeous.
Thank you for Gone Gone Gone. How about Stan Ridgway The Big Heat?
thanks, from Twitch fan Holly J Namaste
I’ll agree with everyone above on the Monaco Electronic play.
Matt if you have room for next week, I would like to hear
The Church When you were mine. Have a great week.
Weird hearing Nitzer Ebb’s “I Give To You” twice! anyways, how’bout “Welcome To America” by Die Warzau.
And I still 2nd Matthew’s request for “Prodigal Son” by The Electric Hellfire Club!!!!!!! SHEMHAMFORASH!!!!!
HAIL DARKWAVE!!!
Please play Peter Murphy-the sweetest drop
requesting The Residents “Kaw-Liga (Prairie Mix)”
Of all the nights to play ‘darness before the dawn’, I had to miss this show; it’s not a recognized song from K Joke, but it’s one of my favorites…
Can you track down Galaxie 500’s version of Ceremony?
Timely episode.
This week’s Darkness Award:
Clock DVA, “Beautiful Losers”
Request for future show:
Duran Duran, “Sound of Thunder”
Song 4 hour 3 was 17 Seconds by The Cure not OMD
What an outstanding show last night, Matt! Thank you for playing my request for Bauhaus – Departure.
Would anyone argue with a fourth hour dedicated to shoegaze?
Here here!
For real, the best show ever. NEVER expecting to hear Gone, Gone, Gone anywhere on the radio, ever.
Can’t believe I heard ‘2nd Thought’ by Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark on the radio in my lifetime!!!
Love ya’ Matt!
Agree with comments above on the New Order side project block. All great in their own respects. Have you ever played an entire show of covers or live versions? Keep up the great work on these playlists!
Hi Matt!
Last weekend’s list was awesome…next week I would love to hear Baby Turns Blue by the Virgin Prunes!
Each hour had a great balance of darkness!
Here are some DW requests –
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Melt!
Wire – Two People in a Room
Thanks!
Thanks, enjoyed the show!
How about:
Sisters of Mercy – Gimme Shelter
Psychedelic Furs – Wedding Song
> Have you ever played an entire show of covers or live versions?
If that happens, I think Pavement’s version of The Killing Moon would be quite apropos.
Cuuu-cuuu-cuuu-cuuu-cumber…
Nice show last weekend!
Even if it wasn’t. You still have the best show ever!!
Never Stop not ever!
The chameleons.. don’t fall my friend in this place that never ends… what a tune
Request for next week. The cult..war the process,or the Saint, either would be awesome
I was floored when you played The Fatima Mansions so I’d love to hear “Belong Nowhere” from Lost in the Former West. On the subject of shoegaze, it’d be wonderful to hear “Thursday” by Asobi Seksu
He tried to will himself back to bed
He wanted desperately to feel the reassuring crisp, white sheets…
BLACKOUT!
I also agree with Evan; I’d like to hear a cover versions show.
Could you play something from the new Gary Numan ‘Intruder’ album that dropped on May 21st? I’ve really been enjoying its dark and heavy production. The title track would be a safe bet to play, but most of the album is up on YouTube if you don’t have it handy yet. Thanks – beatbasher
