Chicago reissue label Numero Group — behind last year’s superb Hüsker Dü box set — now has set its sights on Blondie, with a six-song EP tracing the genesis of “Heart of Glass” due out in October followed by The Complete Studio Recordings 1975-1982 box set in the fall of 2019.
The Heart of Glass EP is due out Oct. 26 on 12-inch vinyl and digital format, and will include cover art — seen below — by Shepard Fairey, the artist behind OBEY GIANT and the Obama “Hope” poster.
The EP — which is available for pre-order directly from Numero — collects six different versions of the song that ultimately would be released as a single in 1979, and climb to the top of the charts. In addition to the basic track, a long version and an instrumental, there’s a Shep Pettibone mix and two early incarnations of the track: “The Disco Song” from 1975 and “Once I Had a Love” from 1978.
As for the details of the box set, Numero Group isn’t expected to reveal anything before next year.
Below, check out the cover art and full tracklist for the Heart of Glass EP — plus a trailer for the forthcoming EP and the song’s original music video.
