Vanessa Briscoe Hay’s Pylon Reenactment Society — the band she put together following the death of Pylon guitarist Randy Bewley — will set out on a short mini-tour later this month, performing a couple new songs, she says, along with favorites from the Pylon catalog.
Beginning June 27, Pylon Reenactment Society will play Durham, N.C., Bordentown, N.J., Richmond, Va., New York City and Washington, D.C. (at Comet Ping Pong of Pizzagate infamy, no less). The band also will play a festival date later in July in Atlanta. Check the band’s website for ticket links.
Hay formed the Pylon Reenactment Society with members of Athens, Ga., bands Casper & The Cookies and The Glands, as well as pianist Damon Denton. On the group’s website, it says, “Is it a cover band if Vanessa is singing? Technically, it’s the next best thing. PRS are here to have fun and perform in the spirit of PYLON. On Tour now! Don’t be discouraged! Let’s dance!”
The group has released a six-song EP of a “Part Time Punks” Session that can be purchased via Chunklet Industries. And, Hay says, “We have been writing and will play a couple of new songs” on the summer dates, and, she adds, “Hope to put out a new single this fall.”
