Turns out the world will listen: Online radio show “Breakfast with The Smiths — The World of Morrissey,” after just one week off the web following the shutdown of Indie1031.com, has found a new home and will return this Sunday, the program’s host, Jose Maldonado, has revealed.
The show, devoted to the music of The Smiths and Morrissey, will now be aired by Los Angeles-based web outlet The Indepdendent FM on Wednesdays (8 a.m. Pacific, 4 p.m. U.K.), Fridays (12:01 a.m. Pacific, 8 a.m. U.K.) and Sundays (9 a.m. Pacific, 5 p.m. U.K.)
Maldonado — the self-proclaimed “Mexican Morrissey” who fronts Smiths tribute band Sweet and Tender Hooligans — had announced the show’s end last week after its home of eight years, L.A.’s Indie 103.1, killed its webstream, which had continued since the station shut down its FM signal in 2009. But he held out hope he could find a new home for the show — and it took less than a week.
