Last night, long-running Australian rock act Hunters & Collectors brought its 2014 tour to Sydney for the first of two club dates at the Enmore Theatre, and treated fans to an encore surprise, inviting Peter Garrett and Jim Moginie of former tourmates Midnight Oil onstage to help blast through a cover of The Saints’ 1978 single “Know Your Product.”
Below, you can see full video of the performance (via TheAussiemusicman), although Moginie, unfortunately, is out of the frame for most of the clip (but you do seem him toward the end).
The performance by Garrett and Moginie comes about eight months after Midnight Oil released a statement quashing reunion rumors in the wake of Garrett’s departure from the Australian Parliament. The two, joined by ex-Oils drummer Rob Hirst, also performed together a year ago in Sydney at a benefit for Doc Neeson, lead singer of Aussie band The Angels, who is suffering from brain cancer.
Since its 2002 break-up, Midnight Oil itself has reunited several times for charity concerts and warm-up gigs, most recently in 2009 for the Sound Relief brushfire concerts.
