British label Optic Nerve Recordings is celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Monochrome Set’s early compilation Volume, Contrast, Brilliance… Singles & Sessions Vol. 1 with a new, ultra-limited vinyl pressing of the collection of various radio sessions and Rough Trade singles and B-sides recorded between 1979 and 1981.
Optic Nerve’s reissue is limited to 500 copies, with the first 100 numbered and pressed on blue/black vinyl. The rest are on plain blue vinyl, and the release can now be ordered via the label’s website.
The new reissue of the long-out-of-print compilation includes two bonus tracks: the 1986 single “Reach for Your Gun” and its B-side, “Sweet Chariots.”
