U.K.-based label Occultation Recordings is planning deluxe vinyl reissues of The Wild Swans’ third album, 2011’s The Coldest Winter For A Hundred Years, and a 2003 compilation of ’80s radio sessions, demos and rarities called Incandescent — but first the label is taking the unusual step of asking fans what they’d like to see included on the two releases.
For the vinyl release of Coldest Winter, which bandleader Paul Simpson, formerly of The Teardrop Explodes, released after reconstituting the band with a new lineup, Occultation plans a double LP on 180-gram vinyl, with the original album on one record and a second record featuring non-album tracks, including from the out-of-print Tracks in the Snow EP. A “super deluxe” vinyl edition might be considered, too.
Similarly, the label is planning a 2LP, 180-gram edition of Incandescent, which features material that mostly has not been released on vinyl. Plans also call for a “deluxe hardback book format version.”
Both reissues are expected this year, but first, the label asks that fans respond to the survey linked below.
