After announcing just before Christmas that their new album had just been mastered, My Bloody Valentine took the stage tonight in London for the first live date of the year, with Kevin Shields surprising fans by answering a heckler with news news that it could be released in “maybe two or three days.”
According to Consequence of Sound, the band opened tonight’s show with a new track, apparently called “Rough Song,” according to a printed setlist. You can see video of both that new song and Shields’ remarks about the album’s release below.
There’s been no release date announced for MBV’s follow-up to the 1991 classic Loveless.
Yeah, right.
I’ll believe it when I see (hear) it!
And by “days” he means “years.”
farce
These two video clips won’t play (has anyone else had this happen?). Fantastic. That just about sums up the Kevin Shields hype machine. How do we know he even said anything or that any new songs exist? It seems everything related to MBV these days is to be taken on trust with a large bag of salt, though there’ll be trouble if they “do a Morrissey” and start cancelling their forthcoming UK dates!
