Long-running darkwave favorites Clan of Xymox — still centered around founding member Ronny Moorings — this fall will pay tribute to some of their own favorite bands with a collection called Kindred Spirits that will feature covers of tracks by The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees and both Joy Division and New Order. The 12-track set is due out Oct. 9 via Metropolis Records, and also finds the band tackling favorites by The Sisters of Mercy, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie and more. I love them but I’m not interested beyond hearing Alice.
Why doesn’t Clan of Xymox tour the US? Yeah, I might download
‘Alice’, maybe a few others. But trying to cover a song like ‘A Forest’ by The Cure foolish, because it’s perfect as is.
this is going to suck SO BAD. Clan of Xymox has been one of the worst jokes of the goth genre (as if the whole modern electro version of goth isn’t a big enough joke already) despite having some absolutely brilliant albums through the early 90’s. Ronny’s voice is already a 10th-rate Andrew Eldritch knock-off.
Love me some (old school) Xymox but does the world really need another goth-y Blue Monday, Heroes or Creep cover?
With a few exceptions, many of these tracks have been covered to death. They need to dig a little deeper, I think.
Bauhaus, Numan, John Foxx / Ultravox, Misfits, PIL, Lords of the New Church… and I might be a buyer.
If you are going to cover Depeche Mode surely you should choose a more interesting song than Question Of Time..
Half of you are tards. Especially Leopold.. Heroes was covered by them 4 years ago and is amazing. So why don’t you all just make you hipster judgments before listening…that way you can totally impress each other.
Um, give it a listen first before making stupid comments like, “man, it’s gonna suck”. It’s like someone calling you a total douche bag without even knowing you. Douche bag.
This album is probably the worst cover album out there. NINs “Something I Can Never Have” was absolutely butchered. I do not even want to hear what they did to Siouxsie and the Banshees work. Take home message… …in not a fan.
