Seattle radio station KEXP has been uploading past in-studio sessions to YouTube of late, and the latest beneficiary of this is Dinosaur Jr. The trio stopped in on Dec. 17, 2011, to record live versions of a couple classics — “Little Fury Things” and “Freak Scene” — and its trademark cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” plus have a little chat with Henry Rollins, who, at the time, was interviewing the band on stage during its winter tour. Above, you can watch the full 18-minute session, or feel free to browse the individual clips below.

Wow, another band covers ‘Just Like Heaven’, big deal, lol. If they covered ‘Short Term Effect’, or ‘Doubt’ I would be impressed.
Not just another band doing just another cover of it. Stolen from Wiki, guided by memory…
“Robert Smith’s personal favourite is the cover recorded by American alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr.,[1] which was released as a single in the UK in 1989 (and 1990 in the US). Dinosaur Jr.’s version has a faster tempo and showcases the band’s loud and distortion-heavy sound. The band’s frontman J Mascis explained, “We recorded it for a compilation album, but when we finished it we liked it so much we didn’t want to give it to them.”[12] Smith said, “J. Mascis sent me a cassette, and it was so passionate. It was fantastic. I’ve never had such a visceral reaction to a cover version before or since”,[1] and even said the cover has “influenced how we play it live”.[17]”
Yeah, just “another band”. You mean probably one of the most influential alternative rock bands from the 80s and 90s? And J Mascis, probably one of the best guitar players of all time, who isn’t just another guitar wanker? Your comment really rustled my jimmies. I figured someone who frequents this site would be knowledgeable and respectful enough to not downplay what is a highly influential and well-liked band.

“Another Band” covered the Cure in 1989 and Robert Smith loved it. Dinosaur Jr. were an essential band that influenced tons of musicians. I am a HUGE Cure fan as well, but to disregard their cover because it was not an obscure Cure song is lame. You are obviously young. Look back on history and learn a little bit.
