This is a particularly hilarious bit of footage that’s just surfaced: Check out a pony-tailed Trent Reznor leading Nine Inch Nails (and dancing like a madman) through a lip-synched performance of debut single “Down In It’ on the wonderfully dated “Dance Party USA.” The clip, presumably from late 1989 or early 1990, was posted today on the message board Echoing the Sound and has been re-posted on Pitchfork (and by now, probably everywhere else on the known Internet) after someone bought the video tape was bought for $100.

Doesn’t that “Let’s hear it for Nine Inch Nails! Whoo!” appear at the very end of the Head Like A Hole/Terrible Lie/Down In It CD single from TVT?
No comment on the dancing that is occurring in the audience?
Richard Patrick from Filter(formally NIN)looks pretty funny also.
There is so much in this video that had me laughing so hard. Especially Trent’s cute little scrunchie.
@50PoundNote: yeah, that’s the same sample heard at the end of the single.
omg. I admit to watching this show back in the day, but I don’t recall NIN on it! USA should start running these old episodes, cause they are so hysterical! I especially remember Princess, the regular who introduced this clip (and the world’s biggest Prince fan!!) HA!
Hahahahahahaha…is that dude in the audience doing the “roger rabbit”?!?! Plus the clothes and permed hairdos! Embarrassed that this is my generation, I can only laugh. Still my fav NIN line up and how I remember first seeing them in a small club in LA.
