We’ve reached September, which means it’s time to unveil the results of Part 7 of our year-long Best of the ’80s feature, a year-by-year poll of Slicing Up Eyeballs’ readers to determine the best albums of each year of the 1980s — and then, at the end of 2013, we’ll run a monster best-of-the-decade poll to crown the overall champs.

Our Best of the ’80s poll continues into August as we hit 1986, and once again ask Slicing Up Eyeballs’ readers to vote for their favorite albums of that year in our ongoing mission to rank the releases of each year of the decade throughout 2013, concluding with a poll to determine the best records of the entire 1980s.

The 1985 poll received more than 45,000 votes with close to 300 different albums garnering votes, both via the ballot and write-ins. This time around, each of the albums slotted in the Top 10 landed more than 1,000 votes, with the records that made the Top 3 each scoring more than 2,000 apiece.

Our year-long Best of the ’80s poll continues into July as we serve up 1985, and once again ask Slicing Up Eyeballs’ readers to vote for their favorite albums of that year in our ongoing mission to rank the releases of each year of the decade, concluding with a poll to determine the best records of the entire 1980s.
