Mercury Studios next month will release a 4CD box set compiling three of The Stranglers’ mid-period studio albums — 1995’s About Time, 1997’s Written in Red and 1998’s Coup de Grace — plus the 1997 live album Friday the Thirteenth: Live at the Royal Albert Hall.
The new multi-disc collection by the long-running punk-era survivors, simply called The Stranglers, will be released July 7, and can be pre-ordered now via Amazon.com. The set features the CDs in mini LP jackets, housed in a slipcase, with a 12-page booklet.
The ’90s-era albums collected here featured the lineup of Paul Roberts (vocals), Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass, vocals), John Ellis (guitar, vocals), Dave Greenfield (keyboards, vocals) and Jet Black (drums). Both Greenfield and Black died in recent years.
The current version of the band — Burnel, Baz Warne (vocals, guitar), Jim Macaulay (drums) and Toby Hounsham (keyboards) — will play festivals in France and Italy this summer, and has a U.K tour set for March 2024. Head over to the band’s website for details.
