The Jesus and Mary Chain to perform ‘Psychocandy’ at Levitation fest in Austin, Texas

The Jesus and Mary Chain have announced the first of hopefully many U.S. performances of Psychocandy in the form of an appearance next May at the Austin Psych Fest’s three-day Levitation festival. JAMC will play the album in full on a bill that also features The Flaming Lips, Spiritualized and Primal Scream.

By all appearances, XTC’s 1989 album Oranges and Lemons is next up in the band’s current series of audiophile reissues, as bandleader Andy Partridge has been tweeting in recent weeks about work on the 5.1 Surround mix, including an attempt to transfer the baked album tapes that were “in a very bad way.”
