Peter Hook’s site fac51thehacienda.com has been slowly uploading early ’80s concert footage shot at New Order’s legendary club FAC51 The Haçienda over the past couple years, and this week added a real gem: four clips of Bauhaus performing at the Manchester club on Aug. 14, 1982, less than a year before the band broke up (for the first time).
The footage, made available thanks to a 2011 deal by Ikon — Factory Records’ video spinoff — to provide its remaining archive of performances to the Haçienda site, includes “Third Uncle,” “Of Lillies and Remains,” “The Spy in the Cab” and their cover of David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust.”
“Although The Haçienda footage comes from the final year of the band, it still shows the power and verve that Bauhaus possessed live and the gig is often referred to as one of the special early Haçienda shows, coming some three months after the club first opened.”
The Haçienda filmed many of its gigs, and some of those shows, including concerts by the likes of The Smiths, have been bootlegged heavily over the years. As for what’s in the archive, Ikon founder Malcolm Whitehead reported that many of the original tapes “have been lost, stolen or are no longer available.”
Other footage already posted on the Haçienda site: The Teardrop Explodes, Simple Minds, The Birthday Party, Culture Club, 23 Skidoo, Echo & The Bunnymen and more.
As for the Bauhaus clips, below, you can watch “Ziggy Stardust” (sorry for the autoplay, but we can’t turn it off), and head over to the Haçienda site to see the rest.

AMAZING! Haçienda should set a label and release these all as CD/DVD and limited 180G vinyl sets!
Wow, Peter’s almost in tune for most of the notes!
THAT IS cool as hell! I have the Smiths full Hacienda performances and now this! Can someone please put it up on youtube so I can download this gem?
Brilliant. One of the very best bands of the era.
