This past week saw college-rock vets Bob Mould, Throwing Muses and Dead Milkmen headline the 2011 Athens PopFest, and thanks to YouTube user MisterLettuce, we can share video of their full sets — plus what may just be the highlight of the festival, the Milkmen covering local heroes Pylon with that group’s lead singer.
Above, you can see the clip of the Dead Milkmen and Vanessa Briscoe Hay performing Pylon’s 1981 single “Crazy,” later made famous when R.E.M.’s cover appeared on B-sides comp Dead Letter Office. Below, check out the full sets by Mould, the Muses and the Milkmen.

“Crazy” was the b-side of “Driver 8” and “Wendell Gee”. It also appeared on “Dead Letter Office” (a b-sides compilation).
Thanks. That’s what I get for not checking. I was thinking of the Wire cover on ‘Document.’
Woah, my videos are spreading! I just put up the Man or Astro-man? show as well, and I have a few other sets to upload (including Joe Jack Talcum’s solo set with the rest of the Dead Milkmen backing him). The Crazy cover was definitely a highlight for me, I adore the DM, and I adore Vanessa and Pylon, so this was like a slice of pure heaven!
