Robert Forster, who co-founded and led the beloved Australian indie-pop combo The Go-Betweens with the late Grant McLennan, will release Inferno — his seventh solo LP and first in four years — next month. Below, you can stream the title track, “Inferno (Brisbane in Summer).”
The nine-track album is due out March 1 on Tapete Records digitally and on CD, standard LP and a crystal-colored LP with a gatefold sleeve and “tip-on” cover that’s limited to 500 copies.
Forster recorded the new album in Berlin last summer, reuniting with producer Victor Van Vugt, who engineered the former Go-Between’s 1990 solo debut Danger in the Past. The record finds Forster working with multi-instrumentalists Scott Bromley and Karin Bãumler, who both appeared on 2015’s Songs to Play, and drummer Earl Havin and keyboardist Michael Muhlhaus.
