Crowded House frontman Neil Finn is working on his upcoming new solo record Out of Silence in full view of his fans, livestreaming his in-studio performances each Friday this month — culminating, on Aug. 25, with the full recording of the album live on the internet.
The album will then be mixed, mastered and released via digital outlets on the following Friday — Sept. 1 — with a CD releasing following on Sept. 22 and vinyl arriving in late October.
“You can all watch, listen, as we lay it down in about three hours,” Finn says. “By the end of the month there’ll be a new album. Watch us make it. Watch it develop. Follow the progress.”
Below, you can watch a performance of the LP’s first single, “More Than One Of You,” which was recorded last week, as well as the complete two-hour sessions — featuring new songs, Crowded House material and covers — that were livestreamed from Roundhouse Studio in Auckland on Aug. 4 and 11.
Finn’s new album is available for pre-order via his website.

Awesome!
Don’t know if the records going to be any good, but at least Neil shaved his mustache. So he’s got that going for him, which is nice.
The ‘stache came and went in ’10.
Neil has had heaps “going for him” before and since then, with this next release already sounding like yet another highlight of a truly remarkable career. Few can touch the man.
Why he isn’t a household name is a mystery.
Given the general mindlessness and poor taste of the public, it’s not a mystery.
