The plan to issue a previously unreleased live take of a song off The Smiths’ landmark third album The Queen is Dead continued today with the debut of a live recording of “Frankly Mr. Shankly” from the band’s concert at the Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee, Wisc., on Aug. 16, 1986.
Like last week’s release of a live version of the title track recorded that same month in Irvine, Calif., this new live version will not appear on the 3CD/1DVD reissue, which includes a live album recorded in Boston. The new weekly live tracks are available on streaming and for purchase as digital downloads.
The Queen is Dead reissue is due out Oct. 20 (head over here to see the full tracklist).
Below, hear the new live version of “Frankly Mr. Shankly.”
