For the past five days, Mike Paradinas, aka electronic-music star µ-Ziq, has been uploading dozens of archival tracks to his Soundcloud page that span his musical life, including what he says is the first 4-track recording he ever made: a cover of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s 1981 single “Souvenir” that he recorded as a 13-year-old in 1985.
Below, you can stream and/or download Paradinas’ cover — performed on a Korg Poly-800 synth and a Boss DR-110 drum machine — along with a remix he made at the time as well.
Plus, revisit the video for the OMD original.
I have a song by u-ZIQ I got off on of those CMJ free CDs back in the ’90s. It’s titled, Pheisope. I still have it on many playlists. It’s a good one, seek it out.
As a fan of Synth, English pop, Electronic music, and 4-track demos this is heaven to me.
he also did a remix of love will tear us apart:

@Nick “Phiesope” was also my introduction to Paradinas via a CMJ comp. It definitely found its way on to more mixes than most songs did.
And a cover of Meat Beat Manifesto’s “Psyche-Out”:
