my sentiments exactly.
Something from the newly re-issued 1985 classic ‘Clock Comes Down The Stairs’ by Microdisney. How about “Birthday Girl” or the magnificent “Loftholdingswood”. These guys were strangely subversive in the same way as The Smiths, slightly light on the surface, but darker than any Gothic Rocker lyrically :)
