Former Commotions leader Lloyd Cole this week debuted the first music from Standards, a new 11-track album that finds the singer-songwriter reuniting with part of the team — Matthew Sweet on bass and co-producer/drummer Fred Maher — behind Cole’s 1990 self-titled solo debut. The Kim Frank-directed video for wistful lead single “Period Piece,” which premiered at The Guardian, also stars Cole’s son William, seemingly playing a younger version of his father.
Standards is due out June 21 in Europe and June 24 in the U.K. on Tapete Records.

He’s aged like all of us, but His voice hasn’t missed a beat. that track sounded very good- very classic Cole without the Commotions. Solid.
Great new sound, the album will be very interesting with renewed collaboration with Sweet and Maher
Video a bit weird, revisiting old haunts in NYC with his son playing a younger version of himself…
