The organizers of Lollapalooza tonight unveiled the lineup for this year’s 20th anniversary festival, and while there are no throwbacks to that inaugural 1991 fest — even though Jane’s Addiction is still kicking around — there are a couple acts on the bill older than the event itself: Big Audio Dynamite and The Cars.
The two newly reunited bands will join headliners Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Muse, as well as groups such as My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5 and A Perfect Circle, at the Aug. 5-7 festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. Full lineup and ticket information is available here.
As for Big Audio Dynamite, it’s the band’s second summer festival date in the U.S. It remains to be seen whether a full U.S. tour is in the cards. The Cars embark on the first leg of their reunion tour next month.
Went to the first one for Siouxsie and Janes mainly. Will never suffer another one.
Went to the first one and had a blast. Wasn’t into rap until I saw Ice-T & Body Count. Didn’t like Butthole Surfers or Living Color and the crowd didn’t seem to get into them. Rollins Band put on a great show for all ten of us that paid attention. Siouxsie, NIN, and Jane’s were well worth the wait.
