His planned tour with Peter Murphy ended in nasty name-calling, but former Dead Can Dance member Brendan Perry has tapped another storied contemporary to join him on a just-announced 13-date North American tour: ex-Cocteau Twins member Robin Guthrie.
Perry announced the trek on his website today, also revealing that he’s signed a three-album U.S. distribution deal with The End Records in New York that will see his most recent album, Ark, finally issued in this country on May 24. Perry also plans to record a new album this summer before touring Europe in September.
As for the North American tour, it opens May 30 in Washington, D.C., hits eight additional U.S. cities, as well as three stops in Canada, before wrapping up June 16 in Mexico City (see full dates below). Perry writes that he will perform material from Ark, as well as his previous solo album, 1999’s Eye of the Hunter, and new songs from the forthcoming disc. Guthrie, Perry notes, “will be performing his very own unique style of music together with films of his original animations.”
