With its first new album in 14 years due in stores later this year, reformed British synthpop outfit Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark — now featuring its classic ’80s lineup — this week announced a 19-date, month-long tour of the U.K. and Europe in late October and November.
Following a one-off performance with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool on Oct. 2, OMD will open its fall tour by playing eight U.K. shows beginning Oct. 29, followed by seven more concerts in Germany as well as dates in Luxembourg, Belgium, The Netherlands and France (see full tour dates below).
The trek is timed to coincide with the expected release this fall of History of Modern, OMD’s first album since 1996’s Universal and its first with its classic core lineup — co-founders Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, plus Martin Cooper and Malcolm Holmes — since 1986’s The Pacific Age.
No tracklist or release date has been announced, but the band has posted a free demo of “Sister Marie Says” on its site; the song dates back too 1981, supposedly having been shelved at the time for sounding to similar to OMD’s hit “Enola Gay.” You can download the demo here, or listen to it below.
