The Psychedelic Furs will head back out on the road in the U.S. next month for a just-announced, 13-date trek that will feature Robyn Hitchcock — who covered the Furs’ 1984 classic “The Ghost in You” on his recent The Man Upstairs album — opening most of the shows.

The Psychedelic Furs this week rolled out what the band is calling the “first wave” of dates for its spring tour, nine shows in the eastern U.S. this May that will be followed a trio of “Fireworks Finale” concerts in September at the famed Hollywood Bowl with The B-52s. See full dates here.

As we reported last week, The Psychedelic Furs are touring the western U.S. this fall with The Lemonheads, and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to one of those shows: the bands’ Nov. 13 concert at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif.

The hard-touring Psychedelic Furs will return to the road this fall, today announcing their second tour in two years with The Lemonheads as special guests. This fall’s trek runs 18 shows, plus one standalone Furs date, from late October through mid-November, hitting the West Coast of the U.S. and select western states.

Robyn Hitchcock this August will release a brand-new, Joe Boyd-produced album titled The Man Upstairs that will be “part well-known favorites, part personal discoveries, and part originals,” according to Yep Roc Records. The first offering off the record is an acoustic take on the Psychedelic Furs’ classic “The Ghost in You.”

Some bands like to announce their entire tours at once, others prefer to dribble out dates here and there. The Psychedelic Furs in recent years have established themselves firmly in the latter camp, which is why it’s once again time to check in with the status of the rockers’ ever-expanding spring U.S. trek.

The Psychedelic Furs have spent the past few years steadily touring the U.S., and 2014’s shaping up to be no different, with the beloved New Wave rockers this week announcing its first American dates of the year: five shows in Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
