The buzz about a possible reunion of The Stone Roses built over the weekend, with no official denial from the band’s members and seeming confirmation from friends such as Shaun Ryder and Tim Burgess — plus fresh rumors that not only are the Roses mounting a series of concerts, but recording a new album as well.

This week’s new releases include reissues of four late-’90s, early-’00s Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds titles, The Charlatans’ ‘Us and Us Only’ and The Icicle Works’ ‘The Small Price of a Bicycle’; plus new albums by Transvision Vamp’s Wendy James and Men at Work’s Colin Hay.

The Charlatans will follow up last year’s double-disc re-release of debut album ‘Some Friendly’ this spring with an expanded reissue of 1999’s ‘Us and Only Us,’ supplementing the record’s original 11 tracks with 19 bonus B-sides, remixes, radio sessions and live tracks.

Less than a month after dropping its debut EP, Peter Hook’s triple-bass supergroup Freebass — which also features The Smiths’ Andy Rourke and Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream — today released its five-years-in-the-making album, ‘It’s a Beautiful Life.’

The folks at Beggars Archive this week announced a May 17 release date for The Charlatans’ 2CD ‘Some Friendly: Expanded Edition,’ timed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Manchester act’s chart-topping debut.
