For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present a “120 X-Ray” segment on The Psychedelic Furs in which Richard Butler and his bandmates discuss the making of their then-new album Book of Days, and their shift back to touring smaller venues. Since last we checked in with The Psychedelic Furs back in March, the band has considerably expanded its summer touring plans, with at least 35 dates announced so far in a trek that will keep Richard Butler and Co. on the road in the U.S. from late May through early September.

With frontman Richard Butler presumably recovered from the spinal surgery that sidelined the band’s New Year’s dates, The Psychedelic Furs today announced a run of seven U.S. concerts in late May and early June — including a pair on the East Coast with The Go-Go’s.

The Psychedelic Furs this evening announced the cancellation of the band’s short run of New Year’s dates in Las Vegas and California as frontman Richard Butler recovers from spinal surgery, but added, in a note posted on the band’s official Facebook page, that the group hopes to reschedule the five concerts in the future.

Despite initially billing their tour as ‘a very limited run of live shows,’ The Psychedelic Furs this week added an eight-date southern leg to their 30th anniversary ‘Talk Talk Talk’ tour of the U.S. this summer — effectively tripling the original size of the trek.

The Psychedelic Furs will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their sophomore album Talk Talk Talk by playing the record in its entirety at a ‘very limited run of live shows’ in the U.S. this spring — just eight concerts in California and Texas.

Turns out Echo & The Bunnymen won’t be the only ones doing the full-album thing this spring: The Psychedelic Furs are planning to bring their ‘Talk Talk Talk’ tour to the ‘western U.S.’ for a round of dates in April in May.
